Sleep Apnea Causes – Symptoms & Treatments

Treatments for sleep apnea :

The main treatment options for sleep apnea are Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP), Surgery, and Oral Appliance Therapy.

CPAP is the most common treatment option for sleep apnea and it includes a mask that’s worn while sleeping. The mask delivers air pressure to keep the airways open during sleep.

Surgery is another treatment option for sleep apnea and it’s usually performed by an ENT specialist who removes excess tissue in the throat or mouth that causes snoring and obstructs breathing during sleep.

Oral Appliance Therapy is a less common treatment option for sleep apnea which involves the use of oral appliances such as mouthpieces, chin straps, Sleep Apnea Causes – Symptoms & Treatments or jaw repositioners to keep the airways open during sleep. This type of treatment is often considered by patients who do not meet the criteria for surgery or CPAP and are unable to tolerate either therapy.
